750 points

Couldn't help myself, I splurged on a crisis team box when my buddy and I visited a new game store. He picked up some termies for himself. I've gotten a bit better with the entire painting thing and these guys actually only took like a bit over 2 days! Pretty good for only really painting at night before bed! I just have to finish up the shield drones (which I made my own conversions for :) ) and my first army is complete! Hazzah! Well its like 2:31 AM here and I'm really tired from chest day and annoyed I failed during my last drop set, so tonight's post will simply be photos, enjoy!

The Suits:

Shield Drones conversion:

And finally... the 750 pt first Tau Cadre :)

And so the end of phase one

Well this will be my last post for a bit :( Mostly because I don't have any models to paint :P (i may paint some orks I got lying around, buttt that's a longshot) Until then here is the completed cadre at the moment, all drones and even the stealth generator all painted and finished :)

Until next time :)

Cause I'm one step closer to the end

Sung some linkin park today in between work and band practice, hoping my tribute band plays again soon, I've been itching to perform more haha. In other news! The army is getting close to completion! Well the 750pt mark that is. I just need to order another crises suit and then a commander suit (decided upon a forge world model for this one) and I'll officially have my first army! Probably not any good, but an army nonetheless.

Excitement began coming home to these!

Looks good with the rest of the cadre right? I also assembled the gun drones for the piranha. I had to glue their legs a bit more and touch up a few things (like painting over some parts to better fit my scheme, bolts gold etc) but all in all very happy with my purchase!

As the night went on I actually ended up finishing up the piranha as well while waiting for GTA V to install :) which means I may not be painting for a bit x) At least until I pick up another suit :P I plan on actually trying to play the warhammer game soon though and have been looking up the rules and watching videos on the phases. I already have a shit ton of 6 sided dice from playing magic the gathering (GOOO CHAMPION OF THE PARISH!!!) so I really just need the templates now and my friend to finish up his damn blood angels already -.- At least he actually is getting into painting now since he figured out the chapter he finally wanted to do. It was his birthday yesterday so I'll probably pick him up an assault marine box when we chill and visit our LGS later on today. Until then here's the finished piranha and the cadre as a whole!

As a final note: Now that I see the piranha finished, I would totally paint bigger models by hand again. It was actually pretty fun! A bit tougher, but once it was finally done it looked amazing!

PIR RAH NAH

I couldn't help it, I absolutely love the movie. Now on to the Tau Piranha! So I'll begin with this... assembling this model has been THE BANE of my existence. Glue, glue then bend and hold, finger sticks you get weird ridges, gotta cut a few edges to avoid snapping off already glued parts. UGH. I finally got it together though...

I didn't assembly the pilots fully or the drones yet, but I decided to get on with painting it anyway :)

By hand. Note to self: Buy an airbrush before attempting to paint another tank-like miniature. I mean it did not come out horrible (at least I don't think so) but I feel it could've definitely been smoother. In better news I'm getting better at washing! Right in the lines helllll yeah!

Tomorrow I'll most likely finish the model up with its drones and pilots (along with the other 2 gun drones and markerlight drone I've been putting off....) Still waiting on the damn battlesuits -.- I'm really hoping they arrive today GAH. Until next time!

Okay I'm Lazy

Did not end up magnetizing the crisis suit at all :P Can't blame me though! It became way too fun painting and posing the model I just totally forgot about it. I must say I think it's my best paint job as of yet too :) So it all started with....

A blank primed suit with a plasma rifle, missile pod and an advanced targeting system. The suit itself was a bit deceiving compared to the box, but it took a hell of a lot of effort to paint it all (not to mention a good amount of paint too)!

Then it came to the painting (which now I wish I did in sections like before and took pics :( ) Turned out pretty good all the basics (prewash):

Then came the wash and finishing touches (along with a meh attempt at highlighting... I'll eventually get it down!):

I think it may be the best I've done so far like I said! Now with the rest of the army...

The great Shas'Vre Aloh Doran with his Fire Warriors and Stealth team!

A little aerial view :)

So that was my exciting last few days! Tonight I'll probably clean the Piranha I just picked up from the sprue to prepare it for priming tomorrow. Hopefully my broadsides come in this week too :( C'mon UK delivery! Until next time!

They come from the mist

The stealth suits are done! Once I begin the basing part of my miniatures I'll add the stealth effect into snow, but for now I'm quite happy with how they came out! All that's left for them is the markerlight drone and the bit that I believe is their stealth field generator.

Surprisingly the hardest part was just keeping my hand from jittering and painting outside the lines. Compared to the Fire Warriors, the armor on these guys was made to be painted! Perfectly detailed and big enough where you didn't have to squint to paint clean and avoid filling up the detail lines. Overall I am very happy with the outcome :)

To differentiate the Shas'vre from the rest of the squad I highlighted his left side with a lighter shade of blue-grey along with painting his tau symbol orange. In person these guys have a nice deep blue hue to them.

When it comes to them with the rest of the army I was just as glad as well! Fitting perfect with the color of the current squad!

Well that's it for this post! I spent the last few hours painting those stealth suits from black to complete so I'm quite tired :P The broadsides should be in next week, but I'll complete the markerlight drone and the stealth generator before then hopefully. Maybe even begin the crises suit... I DO want to magnetize that one though for sure, so I'll be watching a lot of youtube!
